Although not originally Portuguese, Tinta Roriz is essentially an Iberian grape variety. This single-varietal red, which we consider a fine expression of what the grape can offer in the Beira Interior, shows a medium garnet colour with light brick-red reflections. The aroma recalls black plum, cherry and fully ripe wild blackberry. On the palate, it offers freshness and harmonious tannins, the result of extended ageing in used barrels. The finish is long and fresh, with gentle suggestions of spice, wet stone, vine shoot and cedar bark. It continues to evolve beautifully in bottle and is already perfectly capable of pairing effortlessly with the finest Iberian ham, cured sausages and aged cheeses.
