Quinta Das Senhoras

QUINTA DAS SENHORAS is located in Marialva, one of the twelve Historic Villages of Portugal, bordering the lands of Coa River with the hydrographic basin of the Douro River, in an area of granitic-schist transition that gives our wines a unique flavor, that transports us to the History of Portugal. QUINTA DAS SENHORAS has existed since the XIX century, thanks to the tenacity of a dynasty of ladies, the first, Dª Carolina, an emigrant in Brazil, who, on her return, bought and worked the lands that still constitute the farm, where a genuine wine of excellence is produced, having also contributed for the birth of the plantation of the vine and the production of the wine, in the State of Paraná, Brazil, and in this country, around a city that adopted the name of Marialva. The name QUINTA DAS SENHORAS is inspired by and is a tribute to a unique lady, Dª Isabel de Aragão, who spent in the farm the day of June 23, year 1282, on the eve of her Catholic marriage to the king D. Dinis, on the way to Trancoso, where it was celebrated. A family business, which honors the name of the founder and her great-grandmother, rich in the accumulated and continued experience of five generations in the art of producing unique tasting wines, with several awards, in the recent history.
