The vineyards, located at a unique altitude (700-750 metres), bring together the region’s characteristic varieties and comprise three plots with distinct profiles: Alvandeira, with clay-loam soils; Souto, with transitional granite-schist soils; and Lameiras, with granite and quartz. Organic production, a terroir steeped in history, and the setting between the Douro, Côa and Águeda rivers give the wines from this estate a truly unique profile. From this traditionally planted vineyard, we capture the essence of Rufete, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Baga, Jaen, Mourisco and other varieties. A delicate and meticulous creation, this sublime wine is exclusive, classical, intense, complex, elegant and richly textured. Careful selection in the vineyard is followed by fermentation that begins with foot-treading in a traditional lagar and finishes in stainless steel, with a 30-day period of “cuvaison”. Aged in new French oak barrels for an impressive 50 months, then matured in bottle for a further 8 months before release.

A wine of great aromatic complexity, showing both intensity and precision with remarkable elegance. Notes of black fruit, wild-berry preserves, India ink, liquorice, tobacco, dark chocolate and spices. On the palate, it delivers seemingly endless flavour and volume, with silky tannins, all supported by delicate, delicious acidity.

Serve at 15-12 °C.
