Wines from the Beira Interior region once again demonstrated their excellence at the Portugal Wine Trophy 2026—an international competition held this year in the Trás-os-Montes region—securing a total of 59 medals, including 2 Grand Gold, 49 Gold, and 7 Silver.
This year’s edition featured 1,172 registered wines from 35 countries, with 1,154 actually undergoing evaluation. The judging was conducted by 53 international tasters from 14 countries, organized into 8 panels to ensure a rigorous and independent assessment.
Across the entire competition, only 14 Grand Gold medals were awarded, alongside 284 Gold and 48 Silver medals. In this highly competitive environment, Beira Interior wines stood out by winning 2 Grand Gold, 49 Gold, and 7 Silver medals—a total of 58 awards achieved by the 99 wines from the region entered in the competition.
The results highlight the growing quality of Beira Interior wines and the recognition of the work carried out by the region's producers. These awards reflect the uniqueness of its high-altitude *terroirs*, the richness of the regional viticultural heritage, and a continued commitment to excellence and innovation.
